What are the responsibilities and job description for the Quality Inspector position at West Penn Manufacturing Technologies?
Small business looking for a candidate for an inspector position. Successful candidate will be able to carry out final inspections as well as first articles, in process inspections, and identify areas in need of quality improvement. This job will be carried out in a fast paced environment, with 6 or more new part numbers shipping every day. Organization and attention to detail are key to this position.
Other responsibilities will include work instruction generation and release, production tracking, and new order initiation.
Inspector will be working with FARO 3D inspection arm, which helps us in our first articles and inspecting complex parts. Ability to do basic geometric calculations will go a long way towards success in this position. Faro arm training will be performed on the job, experience not required but preferred. Production tracking will be carried out using Trello, which is our system for keeping track of in process materials. This will also help to keep an eye on parts needing in process inspections.
Responsibilities:
- Perform final inspections on weldments, CNC machined parts, and fabrications
- Perform first article inspections on new parts or assemblies that are shipping to customer
- Oversee new processes to ensure it is producing a part in specification
- Identify processes that could benefit from improvement from a quality standpoint
- In process inspections at random workstations
- Updating work in process locations at the end of each day
- Initiating new orders based on purchase orders received
- Create travelers for new parts or workflows that have changed
Necessary requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Microsoft Excel experience required
- Must be able to read drawings and tolerances
- Knowledge of measurement equipment such as calipers and micrometers
- Computer skills - Saving and renaming files, scanning documents, email.
Position will be first shift.
