Position Summary: The Weld Shop Supervisor is responsible for leading and managing the daily operations of the welding department. This position requires a hands-on leader with extensive welding experience who can oversee production, ensure quality standards, and foster a safe and efficient work environment. The ideal candidate will work closely with the production team to meet project deadlines and maintain customer satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities:
- Supervision & Leadership: Manage a team of welders and fabricators, including scheduling, training, and performance evaluation.
- Quality Control: Ensure all welded products meet or exceed customer specifications and industry standards through inspections and adherence to quality procedures.
- Production Management: Oversee the daily workflow of the weld shop, including assigning tasks, monitoring progress, and ensuring deadlines are met.
- Safety Compliance: Enforce safety protocols and best practices to maintain a safe work environment and ensure compliance with OSHA standards.
- Process Improvement: Identify and implement process enhancements to improve efficiency, reduce waste, and maintain quality.
- Technical Expertise: Provide technical support and guidance to the team, including interpreting blueprints, troubleshooting welding issues, and ensuring proper equipment maintenance.
- Communication: Collaborate with other departments to ensure seamless project execution and resolve any production challenges.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of 5 years of welding experience (MIG, TIG, and Stick preferred) in a manufacturing or fabrication environment.
- Previous supervisory or team lead experience in a weld shop or similar setting.
- Strong understanding of welding techniques, materials, and equipment maintenance.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and welding symbols.
- Knowledge of safety regulations and industry best practices (OSHA compliance).
- Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and ability to maintain production records.
- Welding certifications (AWS or equivalent) are a plus.
