Job Description
West Penn Utilities Is an underground Utility construction company based in Western PA. We perform underground utility construction for communications, gas lines, and private work. We work year round with no lay off period and are looking for full time directional drill operators and locators immediately.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Operate drilling equipment and various construction equipment
- Operate specialized drilling equipment and vehicles, safely, productively and according to company policy
- Loading and transporting materials and equipment to various jobsite locations
- Assist in setting up the jobsite to safely complete the project
- Fill in as a laborer as needed
- Additional duties as assigned
Qualifications & Experience
- Previous experience as directional drill operator and/or locator required
- 2 years of experience in underground construction required
- Ability to operate a 20x22 or 10x15 Vermeer or equivalent drill
- Ability to recognize hand signals and directions from locator or operator
- Ability to work in all weather conditions
- Ability to read cable prints
- Ability to lift a minimum of 75 lbs.
- Valid driver's license required
- Commercial Driver's License strongly preferred; willingness to obtain a Commercial Driver's License strongly preferred
Job Description
- The applicant will be responsible for operating equipment related to the job at hand
- Able to read and understand prints, manage a 2-3 man crew to complete the task
- We have qualified personnel on board to assist
- The majority of the work is for various communication companies, but we also do plumbing and gas work.
- The work is steady and long term.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $20.00 - $30.00 per hour
