We are seeking an experienced Grant Manager on a contract basis to help us secure at least $300-400K each year through strategic grant applications and funding proposals. This role is ideal for a skilled writer with a strong track record in nonprofit fundraising, particularly in securing grants from foundations, corporate donors, and government agencies.
We expect the grant writer to work around 24 hours per week, and the hourly rate for this position starts at $25-28/hour.
The Grant Manager is responsible for developing, implementing, and overseeing grant-funded projects and activities. This role researches possible grant opportunities, develops grant proposals, coordinates grant activities, and ensures that grant requirements are met in a timely manner. The Grant Manager works closely with the organization’s leadership to ensure that grant-funded projects are properly implemented and managed.
Grant Manager Duties and Responsibilities:
- Develop and submit grant proposals to potential funders.
- Manage the grant-making process, including preparing grant reports and maintaining records.
- Track grant-funded activities and budgets.
- Monitor compliance with grant requirements and regulations.
- Work with organization leadership to develop and implement strategies for successful grant-funded projects.
- Manage relationships with funders, program staff, and other stakeholders.
- Develop and maintain relationships with external partners and vendors.
- Develop compelling grant proposals, applications, and letters of inquiry that align with WPAS’s mission and funding priorities.
- Learn the organization’s programs, goals, and financial needs to develop compelling proposals, seek new funding opportunities, and report on funding impact.
- Manage the full grant cycle, from proposal development to submission, ensuring compliance with funder guidelines and deadlines.
- Manage a grant calendar to ensure timely submission of applications, renewals, and reports.
- Assist in developing strategies to diversify funding sources and increase overall grant revenue.
- Develop grant budgets and financial documents in collaboration with operations and program staff.
- Attend program events and coordinate site visits to ensure familiarity with initiatives and identify funding needs.
- Maintain accurate grant records, funder communication, and proposal documents within the donor CRM system (Donor Dock).
- Prepare reports for Executive Director to share progress towards funding goals for key stakeholders and board members.
- Maintain a library of organizational materials frequently requested by funders (e.g. financials, board details, program descriptions, etc.).
- Support the Executive Director and our Development department in funder relations, including thank-you letters, impact reports, and donor updates.
Grant Manager Requirements and Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in public administration, business, or a related field required.
- At least 5 years of experience in grant management and/or fundraising.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and grant-writing software.
- Knowledge of grant regulations and compliance requirements.
- Proven track record of securing at least $300K annually in grant funding.
- Strong research skills to identify potential funders and align funding opportunities with organizational needs.
- Excellent writing, editing, and storytelling abilities, with a proven capacity to translate programmatic work and outcomes into compelling, mission-aligned narratives.
- Experience managing grant reporting, compliance, and funder relationships.
- Ability to work independently, meet deadlines, and manage multiple applications simultaneously.
Salary : $300,000 - $400,000
