What are the responsibilities and job description for the Endoscopy Technician position at West River Endoscopy?
Endoscopy technicians are part of the medical team that uses endoscopes to diagnose or treat gastrointestinal problems. They interact with patients, prepare the room and the equipment, provide support to physicians and nurses while the procedure is underway, handle specimens collected, and sterilize equipment. Little formal education is required to become an endoscopy technician, and the job outlook should be excellent.
High School graduate required. Patient care experience a must. CNA's encouraged to apply!
Attention to detail required. Awareness of infection control policies and procedures.
Four 10 hour (7-5:30 pm) shifts- Monday through Friday with Wednesday or Thursday off- no major holidays, no weekends.
Also willing to consider 8 hour shifts.
Teamwork a must, willingness to learn. Please be reliable.
Responsibilities:
Cleans and disinfects the fiberoptic and video equipment and accessories.
Documents the cleaning/disinfection process of all endoscopes on appropriate log.
Documents dates of change of disinfection solutions
Responsible for reassessing equipment on a daily basis. Notifies nurse manager of any defects/damage in equipment and prepares equipment, which needs to be sent in for repair.
Stocks and restocks all rooms with equipment and supplies.
Responsible for maintaining the general cleanliness of the unit during the day. Ensures that all areas of the facility are clean and safe through continual alertness to safety hazards.
Assists with Quality Assurance activities related to equipment and environment.
Assists with the orientation of nursing personnel to non-nursing procedural routines of the unit, including the cleanliness/disinfection procedure for fiberoptic and video equipment.
Assists with simple patient care as directed by nursing staff such as: helping patients dress and undress, ambulate, attaching monitoring equipment and offering fluid.
