West River Land Management (WRLM) is seeking motivated Noxious Weed Management Specialist to join our team. As a well-established, family-owned business operating in the Helena Valley for over 15 years, we take pride in delivering high-quality work while fostering strong relationships with our clients. Position Overview
This role is ideal for individuals who enjoy working outdoors and are comfortable operating off-road vehicles, including Polaris 6x6 side-by-sides, jet boats, and rafts. Technicians will engage in noxious weed spraying and vegetation management projects, primarily in Helena, MT and the surrounding area.
We offer full-time (40 hours per week) positions with opportunities for performance-based pay increases. Part-time positions may also be available for the right candidate.

Key Responsibilities
- Safely apply selective and restricted-use herbicides in accordance with manufacturer guidelines
- Operate and maintain 6-wheelers, spray equipment, GPS tracking units, and other field machinery
- Identify native and invasive plant species with accuracy
- Perform basic mechanical troubleshooting as needed
- Collect and analyze GPS data, track progress using MapItFast software, and document work with photos
- Assist in daily planning by reviewing safety checklists, mixing herbicides, and strategizing efficient workflows
- Work as part of a small field crew (1-4 members), often in remote locations
- Maintain a strong work ethic, adaptability, and attention to detail
What to Expect
- Work schedule: 8 hour days, depending on weather and project needs
- Typical rotation: Ideal candidates would have availability to work 8-10 days on, followed by 3-5 days off. Monday - Friday is also a possibility for the right candidate.
- Travel: Overnight travel may be required (flexibility available)
- Seasonal employment: May 1st through October 31st, with a focus on maximizing productivity during these months
- Reliable attendance: Arriving on time at the shop each day is essential
- Team-oriented environment: Ability to work both collaboratively and independently
Preferred Qualifications & Skills
- Valid Montana driver’s license (required)
- Ability to tow and maneuver trailers (preferred)
- Degree or coursework in Forestry, Ecology, Environmental Science, or a related field (preferred but not necessary)
- Prior experience in land management, conservation, agriculture, or a similar industry (preferred but not necessary)
- Strong mechanical aptitude, problem-solving skills, and attention to detail
- Knowledge of native and invasive plant species (preferred)
- Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions and rugged terrain
- Positive attitude, adaptability, and a strong work ethic
