West Side Pharmacy and Compounding is seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Sterile Compounding Technician to join our team. As a Sterile Compounding Technician, you will be responsible for preparing sterile medications in compliance with industry regulations and best practices. The ideal candidate will have prior experience in sterile compounding and a strong understanding of aseptic techniques, equipment, and safety protocols.
Key Responsibilities:
- Accurately prepare and compound sterile medications, including but not limited to intravenous (IV) admixtures, chemotherapies, parenteral nutrition, and ophthalmic solutions.
- Follow strict aseptic techniques to ensure the preparation of sterile products in a cleanroom environment.
- Maintain and clean compounding areas and equipment, ensuring compliance with USP <795>, USP <797>, and USP <800> and other regulatory standards.
- Work closely with pharmacists and other healthcare professionals to ensure the correct compounding process and accurate drug delivery.
- Perform routine quality assurance checks and maintain proper documentation of compounded medications.
- Monitor inventory and assist with ordering sterile compounding supplies.
- Comply with all relevant health and safety regulations, including OSHA, USP, and state requirements.
- Participate in regular training and stay updated on the latest sterile compounding guidelines and techniques.
Qualifications:
Required Experience: Minimum of 6 months of experience in sterile compounding, preferably in a pharmacy or healthcare setting.
Education: High school diploma or equivalent required. Completion of a sterile compounding certification or related training program is preferred.Skills & Knowledge:
- In-depth knowledge of aseptic techniques and sterile compounding procedures.
- Familiarity with the operation and maintenance of compounding equipment such as laminar flow hoods, isolators, and other sterile preparation devices.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy in compounding medications.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining focus on quality and safety.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to work as part of a team.
- Basic knowledge of pharmaceutical terminology and drug calculations.
Certifications & Licensure (Preferred but not required):
- National Sterile Compounding Certification (e.g., PTCB Sterile Compounding Certification or equivalent)
- Certification in CPR/First Aid
