The Coalition Coordinator is responsible for ensuring that the goals and objectives of the West Springfield CARE Coalition are fulfilled. The mission of the Coalition is to collaboratively provide education, intervention and prevention efforts to address and reduce underage alcohol and substance abuse, while promoting safe, healthy lifestyle choices. The Coordinator oversees all operations of the Coalition, including member recruitment, grant administration, fundraising, public relations and project implementation. The Coordinator is responsible for continually building and sustaining the Coalition and is responsible for ensuring that funders’ goals and objectives are fulfilled, including fiscal and record keeping functions as well as verbal and written reports.
Essential Functions:
-Develop and implement strategic planning for coalition, including a strategic plan;
-Build coalition capacity to implement strategic plan;
-Development of plan for coalition sustainability, including fundraising and grant writing;
-Ensure ongoing communication with coalition partners, including coordination and facilitation of committees, meetings and forums.
-Integrate the Strategic Prevention Framework of SAMHSA into work of the Coalition
-Attend mandatory and other necessary meetings as required by the Town of West Springfield and West Springfield Public Schools and Funders.
-Work with coalition members to plan, implement and evaluate proven environmental strategies aimed at reducing youth substance use and abuse.
-Develop and maintain relationships with local stakeholders, including Board of Health, Law Enforcement, schools, higher education, local businesses, faith communities, parent groups, youth groups, and health/human service agencies.
-Coordinate coalition social norms marketing programs aimed at changing behaviors in target audiences (training provided.) Includes development and administration of survey instruments, analysis of data, development of messages in consultation with graphic designers, implementation of media campaign.
-Demonstrates awareness of district-community needs and initiates activities to meet those identified needs.
-Demonstrates the use of appropriate and effective techniques for community and parent involvement.
-Facilitate and foster youth engagement and youth leadership in Coalition meetings, initiatives and programs and project development.
-Uses information provided through assessment instruments, the district appraisal process, and evaluative feedback from supervisors to improve performance.
-Projects a positive image to the community.
-Performs other duties assigned by the Superintendent.
Qualifications for Position:
B.A. or B.S. required, Master Degree in Public Health or related field preferred. Prior experience in coalition building, data collection and analysis, meeting facilitation, grant writing, grant reporting and communications preferred.
Hours: Full time, 37.5 hours per week.
Salary: Individual contract - commensurate with experience
