The following position is available in the West Springfield Public Schools beginning with the 2024-2025 school year : ENGLISH TEACHER West Springfield High School Key Responsibilities : Curriculum Planning : -Design engaging lessons and units that align with curriculum goals. -Utilize a variety of instructional techniques and media to enhance learning experiences. Classroom Environment : -Create a conducive learning atmosphere appropriate to the maturity and interests of students. -Foster a classroom culture that encourages student engagement and positive behavior. -Establish and maintain clear standards for classroom behavior. -Instruction and Assessment : -Prepare thoroughly for assigned classes. -Assess student performance regularly and provide progress reports as required. -Guide the learning process towards achieving curriculum objectives. Collaboration : -Work with colleagues to examine student data, plan curriculum, and ensure appropriate learning experiences for all students. -Participate in professional development opportunities to maintain and improve professional competence. Student Support : -Be available to students and parents for educational purposes outside of instructional time as needed. -Take necessary precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities. Administrative Duties : -Maintain accurate and complete records as required by law, district policy, and administrative regulations. -Assist the administration in implementing policies and rules governing student life and conduct. -Develop reasonable classroom expectations for academics and behavior Qualifications : Bachelor's Degree from an accredited institution; Massachusetts D.E.S.E. Certification required in ELA 9-12 SEI Endorsement Salary : Per Unit A Contract
