General Cafeteria Worker
West Springfield High School
Job Goal:
To provide meals to each child with the highest nutritious quality in an atmosphere of cleanliness, cheerfulness and personal caring.
Performance Responsibilities:
▪ Assists in food preparation as necessary
▪ Assists in general operation of the program (cash register, POS computer, washing pots, washing tables, operating dish machine, serving students and staff etc.) during the distribution of food.
▪ Assist in processing daily deposits and follow the West Springfield Revenue Policy.
▪ Assists in the cleaning of kitchen and cafeteria
▪ Assists in putting stock away and inventory control
Physical Requirements:
The position requires a moderate amount of walking, standing, sitting, climbing stairs and a step stool whenever necessary. Activities also include moderate physical exertion in body movement such as reaching, bending, twisting, grasping, pushing, and pulling objects. The position requires lifting of 40 pounds on a frequent basis and over 40 pounds occasionally.
Environmental Conditions:
The occupant is required to work indoors. The regular chemical solvents used are cleaning fluids. The occupant will be exposed to extreme heat / cold conditions. The occupant is expected to wear vinyl gloves and proper hair restraints when serving and working with food. The occupant is expected to follow the uniform policy set by the Supervisor of School Cafeterias.
Knowledge, ability and skill:
Must have knowledge of food service equipment and of institutional meal preparation. Must be able to comprehend verbal and written instructions
Supervision:
Reports to the School Cafeteria Manager
