What are the responsibilities and job description for the Day Camp Site Supervisor position at West Suburban Special Recreation Association?
We are WSSRA and we provide recreation programs for adults and children who have a physical impairment, a mental disability, or any other type of disability!
Immediate Supervisor: Camp Coordinator
Hours: 7 hours per day (8:30a-3:30p) M-F
3 planning hours/week (if needed, can be split between you and your Activity Specialist)
Pay Rate: $17.00 Hourly rate based on experience and education
Job Purpose: Plan, Implement and Supervise daily camp activities
Essential Functions of the Job:
- Plan, Implement and Supervise daily camp activities
- Attend all Trainings, Orientations and Certification classes (CPR/CPI) required by Camp coordinator
- Train, develop and evaluate Day Camp Recreation Leaders in:
- Effective behavior management techniques
- Disability awareness
- Leading camp activities
- Engaging participants in daily camp activities
- Communicate with Camp Coordinator, Activity Specialist, parents, and staff
- Conduct daily staff meetings as well as weekly planning meetings
- Maintain appropriate paperwork
- Attend weekly supervisor meetings (Thursdays @ 3:30pm)
- Adhere and enforce WSSRA safety program
- Supervision and care of individuals including behavior management, dispensing medication and assistance in Daily Living Skills
Qualifications:
- High school diploma, coursework from university or college in Therapeutic Recreation, Recreation or related field
- Minimum of 2 years experience working with persons who have disabilities
- Supervisory experience preferred
