Category: Radiology City: Dyersburg State: Tennessee Shift: 10 - Evening (United States of America) Job Description Summary: Responsible for performing all Diagnostic Radiographic and CT Scan exams (may include ultrasound or Mammography) with minimum supervision. The technologist must maintain all aspects of the Radiology Department including clerical duties with the Radiology office as well as RIS/PACS. The Technologist reports directly to the Radiology Manager/Director. The Technologist will work the shift assigned by the Manager/Director. Employee is subject to call back and overtime as required by the facility. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: Performs all high-quality radiographic procedures on patients of varying ages. Proficient use of all diagnostic radiographic equipment. Operation and care of computerized processing system. Demonstrates proficiency with the Radiology Information System and PACs. Provides explanation for pre and post instruction to patients. Assists the radiologist and physicians in performing radiographic procedures or tasks. Practices and maintains safety regulations established or required and completes incidents reports. Monitors operation of equipment and reports malfunctions to supervisor. Ensures the proper segregation and safe disposal of hazardous pharmaceutical waste. Contributes to a positive work climate and the overall team effort of the department. Performs related responsibilities as required or directed. JOB SPECIFICATIONS: EDUCATION: Successful completion or graduation from an AMA approved minimum 2-year accredited Radiological Technology Program and passage of ARRT registry exam post completion. LICENSURE, REGISTRATION, CERTIFICATION: 1. Must be a Registered Radiologic Technologist with ARRT, and in good standing at all times as required by the ARRT through biennial CE activities. 2. Must be BLS certified within 90 days of employment. 3. Is proactive and insures the availability of a current license. EXPERIENCE: An ARRT Registered Radiologic Technologist with at least five successful years of employment as a radiologic technologist with the ability to perform all diagnostic x-ray and crossed trained in at least one modality within Radiology (CT, Mammography, MRI, Nuclear Medicine, or Ultrasound) procedures. Employee may be trained in the modality of CT after hiring if there is no experience in any other modality. Knowledge of hospital and departmental policies and procedures, equipment, forms and all record keeping including RIS/PACS as acquired through a 90-day probation period and/or new employee orientation. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Must be familiar with all X-Ray and CT protocols as set forth by the Radiologists that optimizes patient care in our facility. Proficient in the field of Radiology Imaging for providing patient care to adult, geriatric, adolescent, pediatric and newborn patients. Also must be proficient in the usage of the RIS/PACS system within the Radiology Dept. Uses Image Gently and Image Wisely guidelines with all patients to insure ALARA guidelines are met in radiation protection.
