Job Title:
Surgery Scheduler
About the Role:
The Surgery Scheduler is responsible for scheduling patients for surgery with outstanding customer service for West Texas Surgery Center and the Abilene Surgery Center.
Essential Functions:
- Practices with ethical and legal guidelines
- Ensures patient safety, comfort, and protection
- Knows and demonstrates surgery paperwork requirements
- Knows and demonstrates consent protocol for clinic surgery procedures
- Problem solves paperwork and provides an expedient solution as needed
- Maintains records and reports of cancellations and rescheduling of patients
- Notifies physicians of changes
- Works with clinic supervisor to problem solve surgery sign-up
- Contacts insurance companies for verification and pre-authorization
- Notifies patients of co-pays, deductibles, co-insurance or portion of payment prior to procedures

Work Environment:
The Surgery Scheduler will work primarily in an office/clinic setting.
Physical Demands:

- Requires repetitive hand motion Minimal lifting and carrying requirements
Travel:
Minimal travel required.
Education and Experience:
- High school diploma or GED
- Preferred education: High school diploma or GED with 1 year of experience in customer service, medical terminology, or computer skills
