Are you an Experienced Veterinary Assistant/Technician or CVT and looking to lead?
We have a practice that is focused on prevention, nutrition, dentistry and leveraging technology and remote patient monitoring for the best pet parent experience. Two of our current staff just got accepted to Veterinary school and our two newest members both have/are in pursuit of 4-year degrees and are super quick learners. You would have an integral role in preparing them by teaching them the best pet-friendly restraint, venipuncture, catheter, and anesthesia monitoring skills.
The ideal candidate would enjoy both outpatient care and dentistry/surgery and have a strong desire to lead and teach a hardworking and fun-loving team. We are an AAHA-accredited and Gold-level Cat-Friendly clinic on Madison’s west side.
Full-time position with a flexible schedule. No Saturdays or mandatory overtime. Some weekend cat care and occasional special events.
Veterinary Technician Responsibilities include:
- Assisting veterinarian(s) with outpatient preventive and medical/urgent appointments
- Preparing laboratory samples to be sent out, or conducting in-house laboratory analysis (ie urinalysis, CBC, cytology, etc.)
- Assisting veterinarian(s) with anesthesia monitoring for COHAT, periodontal & root canal procedures and some soft tissue surgery spays/neuters.
- Dental radiology and 12-step Comprehensive Oral & Health Assessment & Treatment (COHAT) dental cleanings.
- Venipunctures, IV catheters, and IM and SQ Injections
- Keeping detailed patient records with AI assistance
- Assisting veterinarian with record keeping of clinic pets and select patients on a daily health tracking app owned by clinic owner
- Client interaction & scheduling via text, phone and in-person
- Preparing prescriptions
Management responsibilities may include:
- Staff Management (Scheduling, Hiring, Reviews, Training)
- Clinic Booking Management (Forward Booking, Keeping Schedule Full, Managing Call Backs and Rechecks)
- Managing Community Events (Annual Weight Loss Challenge, Holiday Parties)
- Clinic Marketing
- Basic Financials (entering invoices, employee budget, payroll)
The ideal candidate for this position would demonstrate a good combination of practical clinical skills (blood drawing, surgery assistance, lab-work), and experience in a Veterinary Setting. 1 years experience in leadership/management. Associate's or Bachelor's Degree in a Biological Science. Good client communication skills and a friendly personality and attitude valuable as well.
Position is between 35 and 40 hours per week and requires employees to be available to work an 8-9 hour shift between the hours of 8am and 530 pm Tuesday-Friday. Monday we are open for a half-day, and the ideal candidate would work 4-5 hours each Monday to work on Managerial tasks. Full time employees are eligible for more benefits, such as parental leave, discounts on pet care, sick and vacation days. Wage is dependent on experience, role within hospital, and hours with a range of $22.50 to $27.50/hr with an opportunity for monthly performance-based bonuses.
