Bucket Operator Summary
The Bucket Operator is responsible for safely operating a bucket truck to perform tree trimming, pruning, and removal services for residential and commercial clients. The role involves working at heights, ensuring the safety of the work site, and collaborating with tree service crews to complete various tree care tasks.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Inspect and maintain the bucket truck and related equipment to ensure proper functioning and safety.
- Trim or remove tree limbs and branches, ensuring minimal impact to surrounding property and vegetation.
- Communicate effectively with team members to coordinate work activities and ensure safe execution of tasks.
- Assist in the cleanup of the worksite, ensuring all debris is properly disposed of or recycled.
- Report any equipment malfunctions, safety concerns, or other issues to the supervisor in a timely manner.
- Perform aerial operations to assist with tree trimming, pruning, and removal.
- Conduct thorough job site analyses to assess risks, determine necessary equipment, and plan safe and efficient operations.
- Communicate effectively with the supervisor to ensure job objectives are understood and executed properly.
- Drive to various work locations and complete assigned tasks efficiently and safely based on the specific needs of each site.
- Adhere to all safety protocols and company guidelines to maintain a secure work environment.
Qualifications:
- Previous experience operating a bucket truck or similar equipment preferred.
- Knowledge of tree care practices, including pruning, trimming, and safe removal techniques.
- Ability to work at heights and in various weather conditions.
- Follow safety protocols, including the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and adhering to OSHA regulations.
- Ability to work in a team-oriented environment.
- Valid driver’s license, with a clean driving record; CDL preferred.
- Ability to successfully pass a background check.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to lift 70 pounds to shoulder height
- Flexibility, including the ability to squat and bend
- Ability to stand and/or walk for extended periods
- Ability to pull body weight up 20 feet and climb a tree
- Ability to work at heights
- Ability to work in all weather conditions and withstand extreme temperatures
- Must not exceed weight limitations for hydraulic buckets
