Foreman Summary:
The Foreman is responsible for overseeing and supervising tree trimming, removal, and maintenance operations. The role requires a combination of leadership, technical skills, and knowledge of arboriculture to ensure all jobs are completed safely, efficiently, and according to company standards. The Foreman will lead a team of tree care professionals, maintaining high-quality service and ensuring the team adheres to safety protocols.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Supervise and manage a team of arborists and ground crew, assigning tasks and ensuring timely and efficient completion of tree care jobs.
- Enforce safety regulations, conduct regular safety meetings, and perform job site inspections to address hazards and ensure safe work practices are followed.
- Manage daily tree removal, trimming, and maintenance operations, organizing workflows, ensuring proper equipment is available, and maintaining customer satisfaction through clear communication.
- Ensure the team has the required equipment and materials for each project and regularly inspect and maintain tools to ensure optimal functionality.
- Communicate with customers to clarify expectations, address concerns, provide progress updates, and maintain a professional company image.
- Keep detailed records of work completed, hours worked, and issues encountered, and provide regular reports on project status, crew performance, and safety to management.
- Train and mentor new employees on tree service techniques and safety, while staying current with industry trends and best practices.
Required Qualifications:
- Extensive background in tree care, arboriculture, or similar industries, with hands-on experience in all aspects of the field.
- Exceptional communication, conflict resolution, and relationship-building skills, ensuring smooth interactions with both team members and clients.
- Ability to work long hours in a high-stress environment, including outside normal business hours.
- Ability to operate and maintain tree service equipment (chippers, cranes, chainsaws, etc.).
- Understanding of OSHA safety standards and ability to implement them on job sites.
- Valid driver’s license.
- Valid CDL required.
Preferred Qualifications:
- High School Degree or equivalent.
- Previous supervisory experience.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to lift 70 pounds to shoulder height
- Flexibility, including the ability to squat and bend
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods
- Ability to pull body weight up 20 feet and climb a tree
- Ability to withstand and perform work at heights
- Ability to work in all weather conditions and withstand extreme temperatures
- Must not exceed weight limitations for hydraulic buckets
