Child Care Worker – Before & After School Program
West Valley Child Care is looking for dedicated and enthusiastic Child Care Workers to join our team! We provide a safe, fun, and enriching environment for children before and after school. If you have a passion for working with kids and want to make a difference, we’d love to meet you!
Position Details:
- Schedule: Monday – Friday, split shifts
- Morning: 7:00 – 8:45 AM (some shifts start at 7:20 AM)
- Afternoon: 3:25 – 6:00 PM
- Must be available for both shifts
- Monthly Late Start Days: One Wednesday a month, usually the second Wednesday, shift is 7:00 – 10:45 AM (required)
- Conference Weeks:
- Regular morning shift
- Afternoon shift is extended to 12:00 – 6:00 PM
- Aligned with the West Valley School District Calendar
- All pm shifts end depend on the last child's pick up time and staffing needs. Sites work out a schedule so that not everyone has to close every day.

Responsibilities:
- Supervise and engage with children in a safe and positive environment.
- Lead fun, creative activities to support child development.
- Assist the site supervisor with daily operations.
- Prepare and serve nutritious snacks.
- Ensure the cleanliness and organization of the site.
- Build strong relationships with children, parents, and staff.
Qualifications:
- Must be 18 years or older.
- Willingness and ability to complete all required trainings within 90 days of employment.
- Passion for working with children and creating a nurturing environment.
- Ability to build rapport with children and families.
- Reliable transportation (split shift requires commuting to and from sites).
- Willingness to work at different sites if needed (you will have a home site but may be asked to sub at others).
- Must pass a background check & fingerprinting (pre-employment).
- Required Certifications (can be completed after hire with assistance):
- First Aid/CPR (must be an in-person course)
- Food Handler’s Permit
- TB Test (pre-employment)
- Initial 30 hours of STARS training within 90 days (assistance available)
- Ongoing 10 hours of continuing education per year
Additional Information:
West Valley Child Care follows the West Valley School District calendar. On some holidays and breaks, staffing is limited based on need. We strive to be fair in scheduling but cannot accommodate all preferences when sites are consolidated. Options to compensate for reduced hours can be discussed during the interview.
