Description
Under the direct supervision of the Child Safety Supervisor, crosses elementary school-age children to and from school.
- Guards may work two crossings (one morning and one afternoon) with an earning potential of $200 per week.
- No nights, holidays or weekends.
- Paid training.
- All equipment provided.
Pay Rate
$15.25 per crossing.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Training by Supervisor in all aspects of job.
- Travel to assigned crossing location(s) transporting crossing guard equipment.
- Arrive at post five minutes before scheduled crossing to set up equipment and turn on flashing lights.
- Ability to assess and monitor traffic situations throughout the crossing post.
- Provide safe gap (not directing traffic unless absolutely necessary) for children to cross the street.
- Cross all children to and from school using extreme caution.
- Maintain good relationships with the children and ensure children follow safe crossing practices.
- Report any dangerous practices of motorists to Crossing Guard Supervisor and problems with students to proper school officials.
- Standing and walking for extended periods of time.
- Running into the street if necessary to grab a child from harm’s way.
- Ensure that flashing lights are turned off and locked after duties are finished.
- Wear regulation equipment each time at post.
- Other duties may be assigned.
Requirements
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- Willing to work as substitute PRIOR to receiving regular post.
- Able to pass physical, visual, and audio examination.
Language Skills:
- Must be able to communicate effectively in English both verbally and in writing.
Physical Activity
- Moderate to heavy physical activity.
- Required to stand or walk for extended periods.
- Must have the ability to use both hands.

- Intermittent exposure to stress as a result of human behavior.
