Accountant Auditor 2
Under limited supervision, performs professional accounting duties. Responsible for performing moderately complex posting and encumbering of funds.
This position exists in the consolidated Administrative Services Unit, Finance Section of the Department of Commerce and is housed in Development Office. This position perform duties primarily for the Office of Community Advancement section of the Development Office.
Duties may include but are not limited to: Daily financial accounting for the Community Development Block Grants; Community Service Block Grants, Department of Energy Grants; Emergency Solutions Grants; Housing Opportunities for Persons with Aids Grants; Neighborhood Investment Program deposits and reports; processing various payments; running financial reports; assisting with grant applications; filing quarterly grant reports and requests for reimbursement; using various federal systems including: IDIS; ASAP; PMS and DRGR for recording expenditures and requesting fund drawdowns; performs other duties as required.
Note: All qualifying applicants will be required to complete an internet-based profile assessment to compare the applicant’s thinking and reasoning skills, behavioral traits and the occupational interests against the traits determined to be important to the posted position.
Training: Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university with at least 24 semester hours in accounting.
Experience: One year of full-time or equivalent part-time paid professional experience in accounting or auditing work.
Substitutions: (1) Master’s Degree in accounting may be substituted for the required experience. (2) Certification or registration as a public accountant in West Virginia may be substituted for the training and required experience.
