- Prior experience and training in teaching Pre-School students and Pre-School Students with Developmental Delays
- Prior experience in teaching the WV Early Learning Standards
- Approximate Times - 8:30 a.m. to 1:15 p.m. Monday - Friday

- Provides instruction that specifically addresses language (expressive and receptive), cognitive, motor (gross and fine) and social/emotional skills at various developmental levels.
- Modifies methods of instruction, equipment and facilities to meet the needs of the students.
- Provides strategies for implementation of the curriculum and individualizes instruction based on assessed developmental needs.
- Displays a willingness to oversee and/or actually provide instruction in toileting routines, basic hygiene and grooming skills including catheterization (after appropriate training).
- Encourages students to work to their greatest potential regardless of severity of their condition.
- Encourages independence and the use of self-help skills and may include manipulation activities with associated lifting.
- Provides a highly structured classroom and its atmosphere is positive, promotes high self-esteem and encourages the students to develop their strengths.
- Monitors the progress of each student.
- Provides feedback to students and parents relative to achievement of the IEP objectives.
- Works cooperatively with the total school staff including related service personnel.
- Conducts activities that promote integration.
- Utilizes community resources to enhance programming.
- Develops activities for parents which promote parent participation and involvement in the program.
- Communicates regularly with parents by means of parent meetings and individual parent conferences and home visits.
- Interprets school program to parents through a home-based model in order to strengthen parental understanding.
- Assists parents in implementing home interventions.
- Selects and requisitions age appropriate instructional materials, equipment and supplies.

TITLE: Special Education Developmental Delay
REPORTS TO: Principal and/or Special Education Director
JOB GOAL: To implement a program for preschool handicapped students. To provide a program of instruction which emphasizes skill development
in an integrated manner.
QUALIFICATIONS: Valid WV teaching certificate/endorsement in early education, elementary education with Pre-K endorsement, Developmental Delay and/or birth through pre-kindergarten.
