What are the responsibilities and job description for the Cross Country Coach RBMS # 1031 position at West Virginia Department of Education?
- Advanced knowledge of cross country fundamentals/concepts, team organization, rules, and policies of the WVSSAC
- Previous experience as a cross country coach; preferred at the high school level
- Teacher of advanced skills, team organization, and fundamentals
- Design and follow a quality and organized daily practice sessions
- Collect and submit all WVSSAC eligibility paper work to the AD
- Inspect and prepare race routes for all home meets
- Assist the AD in setting up for athletic contests
- Follow end of season procedures (inventory of equipment, uniforms, naming of letter winners, etc.)
- Participate in activities that promote growth and development
- Organize an off-season conditioning and skills building program
- Promote high school Cross Country within the school system and community
- Enforce all rules and policies of the school and county related to athletics and student behavior
- Develop an athletic code of conduct to be signed by athletes and parents
- Keep the media informed of competition results
- Maintain positive communications with athletes, parents, and administration
- Work with youth and middle school programs in promoting high school Cross Country
- Ensure the safety and supervision of students while at practice, events, and waiting for transportation home
- Attend WVSSAC rules clinic, booster meetings, and recognition ceremonies
- Work with the coaching staff and AD in organizing and implementing a skills building program for weeks 50, 51, and 52 as per WVSSAC regulations
- All other Coaches’ Performance Criteria as per State Board Policy 5310, Section 29 (§126-142-29)
