Job Summary:
Custodial/Maintenance/Custodian position available at Center McMechen Elementary. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining the cleanliness and attractiveness of the school building and grounds.
Duties & Responsibilities:
1. Responsible for the cleanliness and attractiveness of the school building and grounds.
2. Keeping rooms clean and in an orderly appearance.
3. Keeping restrooms, hallways and entrances clean and manageable.
4. Keeping entrance areas and sidewalks free of snow and ice.
5. Run sweeper, empty wastebaskets, clean windows, and perform other custodial duties.
6. Keep grass cut and trimmed on a regular basis.
7. Keeping grounds free of paper and other refuse.
8. Keeping outside of building free of marks.
9. Make minor repairs, repair window shades, etc..
10. Display flag.
11. Other duties of a custodial nature as directed by the principal or other county supervisors.
Employment Terms:
The position is for the 2024-2025 school year with an anticipated start date of February 17, 2024. Normal contract: Monday to Friday, 260 days, eight hours per day, typically 6 AM - 2 PM, but flexible as requested by principal or county administration when students are not present.
Salary: Salary to be determined by salary classification level, experience, and education according to schedule at Pay grade C plus competitive benefits package equal to approximately 35% of direct compensation.
Qualifications:
1. Have a knowledge of and physical capability to perform assigned duties.
2. Possess a personality for working in proximity with children.
3. Compatible with a positive school environment.
4. Able to perform tasks which may range from light cleaning to heavy lifting.
5. Physically capable of performing reasonable climbing tasks.
6. Pass the WV competency tests for custodian.
7. High school diploma or equivalent.
