- Possess a valid West Virginia Teaching Certificate, for General Science 6-12; 5-12, or Physical Science, or Biology
- Proven ability in dealing with students
- Ability to direct research, both written and practical
- Past experience in directing student participation in Science Fair programs and other scientific competitions
- Willingness to be involved in Science Symposium and Science Fair competitions
- Ability to write clearly and concisely using correct grammar and spelling
- Ability to teach science in practical and applied formats utilizing technology
- Possess knowledge of the concepts contained in the Science Curriculum for Grades 9-12
- Willing to serve in extra-curricular activities and be involved with parent groups
- Successful completion of the interview and writing process
- Any combination of training and experience which would lead to successful employment as a General Science Teacher at the high school level
- Direct or coordinate student involvement in Science Symposium and Science Fair competitions
- Fosters a classroom climate conducive to learning
- Utilizes instructional management systems which increase student learning and maximizes time on task
- Monitors student progress toward learning outcomes
- Maintains and upgrades professional skills
- Maintains professional work habits
- Promotes and maintains positive pupil-teacher-parent relationships
- Performs other duties assigned by the Principal, Deputy Superintendent or Superintendent
- Possess a valid West Virginia Teaching Certificate, for Biology 7-12
- Possess the background, knowledge and training necessary to teach the following upper level courses in the Biology Curriculum: genetics, microbiology, physiology of exercise, botany, AP biology, and advanced ecology
- Have a good academic background
- Ability to write clearly and concisely using correct grammar and spelling
- Successful completion of the interview process
- Any combination of training and experience which would lead to successful employment as a Biology Teacher
- Implements his/her program of study
- Fosters a classroom climate conducive to learning
- Utilizes instructional management systems which increase student learning and maximizes time on task
- Monitors student progress toward learning outcomes
- Maintains and upgrades professional skills
