MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Professional licensure and an employee of the Harrison County Board of Education preferred
IMMEDIATE SUPERVISOR: Principal
SELECTION: The position is filled by the Board of Education upon recommendation of the Superintendent of Schools.
Salary and Employment: Per Harrison County Board of Education extra-curricular assignment schedule.
Functions and Duties:
Professional and Interpersonal Relations
1. Cooperate with building Principal and Athletic Director and Assistant Coach.
2. Develops rapport with coaching staff within the school.
3. Organizes coaching staff.
4. Develops positive relationship with participants, student body, faculty, parents and community, game officials, news media, opponents.
5. Employs appropriate conduct during practice and games.
6. Attends league, conference and WVSSAC meetings.
7. Participates in activities that foster professional growth and development.
8. Motivates staff and players toward desired goals.
9. Commands respect by example in appearance, manners, behavior and language.
Coaching and Related Areas:
1. Develop high caliber and quality instruction.
2. Teacher fundamental skills.
3. Handles athletic injuries.
4. Cares for equipment.
5. Supervises participants and disciplines team appropriately.
6. Designs quality organization of practice sessions.
7. Designs pre-season planning.
8. Supervises managers and other support personnel.
9. Manages budget.
10. Follows purchasing procedures.
11. Initiates game organizational skills.
12. Follows league: conference and WVSSAC policies.
13. Devotes time and energy to coaching duties.
14. Follows end of season procedures.
15. In the absence of the head coach, the assistant coach will assume all the responsibilities of the head coach.
