- Plan, conduct and coordinate on-site compliance monitoring of public schools, private schools, residential child-care institutions, child-care centers, family day care homes and summer camps.
- Cooperate with staff to develop and maintain on-going systems for documenting monitoring, correspondence, training, sponsor applications and other program activity, as required by federal regulation and state policy.
- Assist in the develop policies and related guidance as they pertain to the oversight of federal child-nutrition programs.
- Assist in the completion and management of monitoring and reporting processes for child-nutrition program sponsors, as required by regulations and state policy.
- Complete, maintain and file appropriate records and reports pertaining to all monitoring activities.
- Cooperate with the director and appropriate staff to plan and provide technical assistance and training as assigned.
- Serve as the direct supervisor for all associate staff in the Office of Child Nutrition.
- Work with Department, inter-agency, and the United States Department of Agriculture personnel and programs upon request of the director or as assigned.
- Participate regularly in all staff development programs provided by the Department.
- Prepare special reports, proposals and information at the request of the director.
- Assist in management of child-nutrition claims and the reporting processes based upon reports and requests from the United States Department of Agriculture.
- Cooperate with the director to develop goals and objectives for program administration and financial management.
- Perform other assignments as deemed appropriate and necessary by the State Board of Education, Deputy Superintendent, and the State Superintendent of Schools.
- A Master's Degree from a recognized institution of higher education with an academic major in areas including food and nutrition, food service management, dietetics, family and consumer science, nutrition education, culinary arts, public health, business, or a related field.
- Extensive relevant knowledge and experience in areas such as: child-nutrition programs, institutional food service operations, management, business, nutrition education, or related field.
- Five Years of successful experience in Federal child-nutrition programs.
- Demonstrated ability in written and spoken communication.
- A belief in the goals of the department, the division and the office.
- Capability and willingness to travel extensively.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Manager, Office of Child Nutrition, will cooperate with the Director to plan and implement the state agency administration of Federal Child Nutrition Programs. The Manager’s primary responsibilities will include program management and oversight, technical assistance visits and federal compliance monitoring.
The Manager will conduct monitoring, technical assistance, and oversight activities related to the National School Lunch Program (NSLP), School Breakfast Program (SBP), Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP), Summer Food Service Program (SFSP) the Fresh Fruits and Vegetable Program (FFVP), and/or related programs, specifically in the areas related to program compliance. The Manager will cooperate with child-nutrition coordinators in planning and conducting monitoring and technical assistance in public schools, private schools, residential child-care institutions and child-care sponsors. Department of Education staff are employed upon recommendation of the State Superintendent of Schools and are state employees. No representative or employee of the state is authorized to enter into any employment contract or other agreement. Department staff work under the direction of the State Superintendent of Schools for the general supervision of the free schools in the state and implementing the policies of the board and other necessary tasks as determined by the State Superintendent of Schools or his/her designee. Each employee is “at-will” and subject to termination by the State Superintendent of Schools at any time, with or without notice, cause or compensation.
The employment relationship between the State Superintendent of Schools and the employee may be terminated by either party. Reasons for termination by the State Superintendent of Schools include, but are not limited to, immorality, incompetency, cruelty, insubordination, intemperance, willful neglect of duty, unsatisfactory performance, the conviction of a felony or a guilty plea or a plea of no contest to a felony charge, misuse of funds or property, violations of law or policies of the state board, lack of need, or a lack or loss of funding.
