- Must be 18 years of age, or older
- High School diploma, or equivalent, pursuant to WV Code §18A-2-5
- Criminal Background check pursuant to WV Code § 18-5-15c
- Applicant must possess a valid First Aid card and be certified in CPR.
- Applicants not already employed must take and pass the State Aide’s Competency Test
- Autism Mentor certification, or willing to obtain certification
- Possibility of riding a bus to assist with transportation to and from school and chool related activities

- Under supervision of licensed teacher, prepare for classroom activities.
- Help the students to learn to care for their own personal belongings
- Assist the teacher with non-instructional classroom duties, on the playground, in the cafeteria, and while loading and unloading buses.
- Assist with recess and necessary “extra” trips.
- Handle routine interruptions and provide assistance on occasions when the teacher is unavoidably occupied elsewhere.
- Assist the teacher in the development of student self-discipline through reinforcement of positive behavior
- Assist during instructional times with activities such as drill work, reading, storytelling, small group functions, as well as assist students at individual station activities.
- Work with small groups of students to reinforce material initially introduced by the teacher.
- Evaluate the day’s work with the teacher and make plans for the following day.
- Maintain the same high level of ethical behavior and con?dentiality of information about students as is expected of fully licensed teacher.
- Assist in upholding and enforcing school rules, administrative regulations and Board policies.
- Assist the teacher in the use of all available computer hardware and software.
- Assist the students in the use of maintenance of all available computer hardware and software.
- Other duties as assigned.
- This position will frequently require the employee to crawl, sit, stoop, reach, stand, walk, lift, pull, grasp, talk, hear, see and use repetitive motions.
- This position may require lifting/moving at least 50 pounds (100 pounds vertically for Special Education and Transportation positions) of children, materials, etc.
