Position Title: Itinerant Educational Interpreter/Sign Language Specialist/Supervisory Aide/Transportation Aide
Approximately (7:30 a.m. – 3:00 p.m.)
(Times dependent on assignment of bus run)
Immediate Supervisor: Principal(Times dependent on assignment of bus run)
Qualifications:
High School Diploma or GED
Meet the requirements of WVDE Paraprofessional-Educational Interpreter Certificate
Score at least 3.0 on the WV Educational Interpreter Proficiency Assessment (EIPA) for initial certification or score a 3.5 on the EIPA
and pass the written performance assessment for permanent certification
Proficiency in Giving and Receiving Sign Language
Ability to Perform the Physical Activity Required with Specialized Program
Ability to Exercise Authority and Control over Students
High School Diploma to Sixty College Hours
Ability to Understand and Respond to the Needs of Children
Use Oral and Written English Fluently
Interpret and Follow Oral and Written Instructions
Relate Well with School Personnel, Parents and the Community
Demonstrate Creativity, Initiative and Patience
Display a Positive Outlook Toward the Program and its Students
Ability to Perform Health Related Duties for Special Needs Students
Current Employee or Substitute Aide, passed or pass the aide competency testing
Valid First Aid and CPR Cards
Ability to lift 50lbs
Specialized training: Fluent in ASL
