    POSITION TITLE: Assistant Football Coach (2 positions) - 24/25SY

    LOCATION: Brooke High School
    Qualifications: Certification or licensure as required by the West Virginia Board of Education and the West Virginia Secondary Schools Activities
    Commission.

    Reports to: Head Coach, Athletic Director, Principal, Assistant
    Principal, designee as assigned by the Superintendent of
    Schools.

    Job Goals: To assist the head coach in directing activities normally associated with
    coaching.

    Job Duration: Coaching contract shall terminate and/or renewed annually at the end of
    the designated school year or may be terminated at any time for just cause pursuant to West Virginia Code §18A-2-8 or by the mutual consent of the parties.


    Duties:
    • Implement the rules and regulations set forth by the West Virginia Board of Education, West Virginia Secondary Schools Activities Commission (WVSSAC), Brooke County Board of Education, Brooke High School, and the Athletic Department.

      • Cooperating with, supporting and demonstrating loyalty to the head coach, the athletic department, the school and the district.
      • Being dependable, reliable, and punctual.
      • Exhibiting sportsmanlike behavior.
    • Learn and implement the schematic philosophies of the varsity program in order to facilitate the learning process of younger players and allow for their assimilation into the varsity program.
    • Participate in staff meetings as required by the head coach and/or athletic director including pre-season and post-season meetings.

      • Conducting tryouts.
      • Submitting eligibility lists, team rosters, parent consent forms and insurance forms.
      • Implementing team rules, with consequences, and in accordance with the Brooke County Student Handbook and Brooke County policy.
      • Announcing and enforcing rules and regulations pertaining to safe participation in accordance with WVSSAC policy by demonstrating and teaching the necessary skills and practices.
      • Organizing daily practices, providing input to the head coach regarding one’s specific coaching assignment.
      • Evaluating player performance, specifically regarding the position group and/or age group one primarily works with. This includes evaluation for post-season awards and/or recognition by the WVSSAC, OVAC, TRAC, or other organization(s).
      • Promoting and supervising off-season conditioning programs, including (but not limited to) assisting with weeks 50, 51, and 52 of the WVSSAC calendar.
      • Preparation of game day equipment and field/game surface maintenance.
      • Supervision of student managers, scorekeepers, and student trainers.
      • Maintaining an accurate inventory of equipment and uniforms, including distribution of equipment and uniforms at the beginning of the season and collection and storage of equipment and uniforms at the end of the season.
      • Inspecting equipment for safety.
      • Purchasing of equipment, supplies, uniforms, etc., which are within the athletic budget.
      • Scouting opposing teams, including utilizing the HUDL program.
      • Maintaining all required contest scores and statistics, as assigned.
      • Assisting athletes who are pursuing their athletic career at the collegiate level.
    • Effectively communicate with parents/guardians…
      • Coaching philosophies,
      • Team rules and regulations,
      • Expectations of athletes, and
      • Parent support and involvement.
    • Develop a positive rapport and work cooperatively with booster groups in order to support their efforts in assisting the sport.
    • Take advantage of all practice days, including Saturdays and holidays, prior to the first contest.
    • Pursue professional development by joining professional organizations and participating in clinic sessions held by the head coach or other experts in the field.
    • Attend all West Virginia Secondary Schools Athletics Commission (WVSSAC), Ohio Valley Athletic Conference (OVAC), and Two Rivers Athletic Conference (TRAC) meetings required of your sport or as required by the head coach, the athletic director, and/or principal.
    • Address any issues that may arise by following the proper chain of command.
    • Abide by the policies set forth in the Brooke High School Coaches’ Handbook.
    • Follow all purchasing procedures established by the athletic department, the Board of Education and the West Virginia State Auditor’s Manual. ALL purchases must be pre-approved and a purchase order (PO) assigned prior to placing an order.
    • Perform any other duties as assigned by the head coach, the assistant athletic director, the athletic director, the assistant principal, the principal, the superintendent of schools or his/her designee.
    Employment Term: Salary and work year to be established by the Board of Education.
    Evaluation: Performance of this job will be evaluated annually in accordance
    with Policy 5310 and the provisions of Brooke County Board of Education Policy of Evaluation of Coaches.
