    REPORTS TO : Director of Facilities and Maintenance

    JOB GOAL : Performs duties of painting, finishing, and decorating of wood, metal, and concrete surfaces of buildings, other structures, equipment, machinery, and furnishings within the Ohio County School system.

    QUALIFICATIONS :

  • Pass the West Virginia Service Personnel Test for Painter.
  • Be able to drive and possess a valid motor vehicle operator's license.
  • Be able to climb and work at heights above six foot.
  • Be able to understand and carry out written and oral instructions.
  • Be able to develop and maintain an effective working relationship with others.
  • Possess general knowledge of the methods, materials, and equipment used in the painting trade.
  • Possess a high school diploma or GED.
  • Have skill and ability to apply paint to various surfaces.
  • Any combination of training and experience which would lead to successful employment as a painter.
  • ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE POSITION :

  • Apply by brush and spray flat and finishing coats of paint, varnishes, and lacquer.
  • Mix paint.
  • Paint building exteriors and interiors.
  • Paint floors, furniture and office equipment and rust proof various surfaces.
  • Responsible for the direction / supervision of the work of any helpers assigned.
  • Promote high standards of safety and good housekeeping methods in all work connected areas.
  • Participate in staff development training as directed.
  • Maintain positive work habits.
  • Perform duties efficiently and productively.
  • Maintain and / or upgrade skills.
  • Be able to climb and perform work at heights about six foot.
  • Perform other duties assigned by the Director of Facilities and Maintenance.

    TITLE : Mason

    REPORTS TO : Maintenance Supervisor

    JOB GOAL : To perform craft work in the area of plastering, title, brick, block and concrete finishing. To repair and maintain facilities in Ohio County in order to keep them repaired and enhance their appearance.

    QUALIFICATIONS :

  • Must be able to comprehend written or verbal instructions.
  • Should have four years training in masonry experience; or an equivalent combination of training and experience and knowledge of blueprints, how to read drawings, etc.
  • Must have High School Diploma or GED.
  • Pass the approved West Virginia Service Personnel Tests for Mason.
  • Any combination of training and experience which would lead to successful employment as a Mason.
  • ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE JOB :

  • Builds concrete forms; pours and finishes concrete; performs tasks connected with brick and block lying.
  • Constructs new walls, does patchwork, plastering, building of lathe walls, etc.
  • Sets ceramic tile, etc.
  • Does all patching and replacement of damaged plastered walls.
  • Performs any block and brick laying tasks or related carpenter tasks as needed to perform masonry skills.
  • To follow county policy and procedures.
  • To maintain positive work habits and attitudes.
  • To perform duties efficiently and productively.
  • To maintain and / or upgrade skills.
  • To promote positive public communications.
  • To maintain professional appearance.
  • To perform other tasks and duties as assigned by the Maintenance Supervisor.

    TITLE : General Maintenance

    REPORTS TO : Supervisor of Maintenance

    JOB GOAL : Works as a helper to skilled maintenance employees and performs minor repairs to equipment and buildings of the county school system.

    QUALIFICATIONS :

  • Knowledge and work experience in the area of general maintenance.
  • Pass the approved West Virginia Service Personnel Test for General Maintenance. (Currently classified general maintenance employees do not have to take the test.)
  • Possess a high school diploma or GED.
  • Possess a valid motor vehicle operator's license.
  • Willing and able to work a flexible schedule.
  • Willing to participate in the required asbestos training and removal process.
  • A clear and consistent record of positive behavior that includes consistency in presenting a positive image of education both within and outside education.
  • This job is classified as requiring heavy to very heavy work capacity.
  • Any combination of training and experience which would lead to successful employment as a maintenance person.
  • ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE POSITION :

  • Assist in loading and unloading trucks.
  • Assist in performing hot and cold roof repair and replacement.
  • Assist in performing sidewalk concrete repair.
  • Assist in performing blacktop repair.
  • Assist in performing repair of gym equipment, bleachers, curtains, etc.
  • Assist in performing window repair, replace broken glass and new window replacement.
  • Assist in performing repairs such as burning metal, layout, boiler removal, etc.
  • Perform grounds work such as mowing grass, trimming shrubs, snow removal, etc.
  • Assist in performing repairs on chain link fence, handrails, gates, etc.
  • Assist in performing general masonry work.
  • Assist in performing preventive maintenance in the areas of plumbing, electricity, carpentry, and roofing.
  • Promote high standards of safety and good housekeeping methods in all work connected areas.
  • Be able to climb and perform work at heights above six foot.
  • Perform other duties assigned by the Director of Facilities and Maintenance.
