Job Summary
The West Virginia Department of Education is seeking a highly qualified individual to fill the position of Physical Education/Planning Teacher. As a member of our team, you will be responsible for developing and implementing lesson plans that fulfill the requirements of WV Content Standards and Objectives, district's curriculum program, and show written evidence of preparation as required.
You will also use 21st Century Technology skills to strengthen the teaching/learning process, deliver rigorous instruction to all students, and instill in students the belief and practice of ethical principles and democratic values. Additionally, you will prepare lessons that reflect accommodations for differences in student learning styles and present subject matter according to guidelines established by WVDE and board policies, and administrative regulations.
We are looking for an individual who can work cooperatively with special education teachers to modify curricula as needed for special education students according to guidelines established in Individual Education Plans (IEP). You will also plan and supervise assignments of teacher aide(s) and volunteer(s), help students analyze and improve study methods and habits, and conduct ongoing assessment of student achievement through formative and informative testing.
The ideal candidate will assume responsibility for extracurricular activities as assigned, sponsor, plan, and implement co-curricular activities/programs, such as curricular fairs, awards programs, and/or field trips as designated by the principal. They will maintain a positive role model for students, support the mission of the school district, and create a classroom environment conducive to learning and appropriate for the physical, social, and emotional development of students.
This position requires the ability to meet multiple demands from several people and interact with the public and other staff members. The ideal candidate will have excellent communication skills and be able to present information accurately and clearly. They will participate in staff development activities to improve Standards of Practice for self and colleagues and keep informed and comply with state, district, and school regulations and policies for classroom teachers.
