Social Studies Textbook Committee (Secondary)

Hold a valid West Virginia teaching certificate with proper endorsement in Social Studies/History 6-12 required and must currently be teaching the subject in a Mercer County School. The Social Studies/History Committee will be a balanced committee with representatives selected as follows:

Grades 6-12 as needed per posting.

• Making themselves knowledgeable of all programs that are on the state approved adoption list.

• Conducting presentations for colleagues at the school and county level.

• Attending textbook caravan.

• Participating in all meetings of the Textbook Committee

• Attending meeting of the Mercer County BOE in which Textbook Selection is on the agenda ( Date TBD)

• Receive and make samples available for teacher viewing during the adoption process. (Samples must be returned to the provider after committee work is complete unless provider specifies otherwise.)

• Casting a VOTE based on the input received from colleagues. (Only committee members may participate in the VOTE for the Social Studies/History Program selected.
