POSITION 25P24 TITLE: Teacher of Grade One
LOCATION: Sand Hill Elementary
QUALIFICATIONS: Minimal qualifications will include a BA degree and valid West Virginia Teaching certification endorsed in Elementary Education K-6, or Multi-Subjects K-8 commensurate with the assignment. Applicant must possess the ability to successfully manage an instructional program for elementary level students.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Foster a classroom climate conducive to learning
2. Develop instructional plans and organize class time to provide a balanced program of instruction, demonstration, and working time
3. Instruct pupils in subject areas as specified in state law, curricula, and guidelines established by the local board of education and administrative regulations
4. Provide individual and small group instruction whenever appropriate
5. Adapt curriculum to the needs of pupils with varying intellectual and special abilities
6. Establish and maintain standards of pupil behavior needed to provide an orderly and productive environment
7. Supervise pupils in out-of-classroom activities during the assigned working day, as required
8. Evaluate each pupil’s performance and growth in knowledge and understanding; monitor progress toward learning outcomes; prepare progress reports
9. Communicate with parents and school counselors on pupil progress; promote positive pupil-teacher-parent relationships
10. Maintain basic attendance accounting and business services, as required
11. Serve as resource person on interdepartmental level
12. Adhere to all federal, state, and local educational policies
13. Report to work one-half hour prior to start of school and remain at least ten minutes after close of school
14. Perform all other duties as assigned, according to need, by the school principal.

EMPLOYMENT TERM: 2024-2025 school year with anticipated start date of February 17, 2024. (Normal contract: 200 days)
SALARY: Salary based on experience and education level per MCS BOE salary schedule located at https://boe.mars.k12.wv.us/mcs-salary/ plus competitive benefits package equal to approximately 35% of direct compensation.
