The Transportation Worker 2 Bridge Maintenance Worker will report to the District Heavy Maintenance Headquarters, Disforce. Under general supervision, will perform skilled work in the construction and maintenance of bridges. Drives dump, flat-bed, or tandem-axle trucks to transport equipment and materials to and from work sites. Patches and repairs pavement and bridge decks. Installs steel piling, steel reinforcing bars, and place and finish concrete. Will often be climbing the steel structures to repair damaged steel bridge components. Flagging, erecting traffic control signs and barricades on bridge maintenance projects. Will be required to operate other bridge maintenance equipment as employee training permits such as skid steer, aerial bucket truck, front-end loader, and backhoe. May be exposed to hazardous working conditions and inclement weather. Performs other related duties as required. The selected applicant will be placed in a U.S. Department of Labor apprenticeship program. SUPPLEMENTAL INFORMATION
REQUIRED TRAINING/EDUCATION: No formal education required.REQUIRED EXPERIENCE: Bridge Maintenance: Two (2) years of full-time or equivalent part-time paid experience in bridge construction, roadway maintenance, bridge maintenance, or structural steel construction comparable to the work performed by the Division of Highways.Bridge Maintenance Experience Substitution: Successful completion of an approved vocational school program in the area of assignment may be substituted for the required experience in the specified functional area.
