The intent of this job description is to provide a representative summary of the major duties and responsibilities performed by incumbents of this job. Incumbents may be required to perform job-related tasks other than those specifically presented in this description.
POSITION SUMMARY
Performs a number of Skilled and semi-skilled tasks relative to care of airport facility and other buildings and grounds work as may be assigned.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
· Performs routine maintenance on fencing, gates, walks and paved surfaces, walls, ceilings and trim of buildings, including all painting, sewers and street systems, including drainage ditches, culverts and catch basins.
· Removes dust, dirt, grease, and waste material from vehicles, equipment, and machines. Keeps work area and all tools clean.
· Performs routine ground maintenance such as: mowing turf, street cleaning, litter control, pest control, pruning, mulching, tree trimming and/or removal, etc.
· Operates equipment as needed such as: dump trucks, loader, skid steer, rotary mowers, lawnmowers, weed-eaters, edging equipment, hedge-trimmers, spraying equipment, pruning equipment, etc.
· Provides morning litter control on airport road, eagle mountain road, and loop roadway.
· Serves as member of snow removal team ensuring that the runway remains open.
· Must follow Rules and Regulations of Yeager Airport and all applicable Operating Instructions.
· May be asked to assist in ground handling operations at any time if needed in a situation of limited employee availability.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES
Ability to use and maintain ground keeping equipment and landscaping. Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence.
QUALIFICATIONS
Physical Requirements:

Primary functions require sufficient physical ability and mobility to work in a field environment; to walk, stand, and sit for prolonged periods of time; to frequently stoop, bend, kneel, crouch, crawl, climb, reach, twist, grasp, and make repetitive hand movement in the performance of daily duties; to lift, carry, push, and/or pull moderate amounts of weight; to operate assigned equipment and vehicles; and to verbally communicate to exchange information.
Educational Requirements:
High school graduation or equivalent.
Experience Requirements:
Experience in basic maintenance techniques, including operation of equipment.
Some experience in safety procedures and practices related to work.
Certifications, Licenses Required:
Upon Hire- West Virginia State Driver’s License.
Must Acquire-Basic Airport Safety and Operations Specialist Training.
Working Conditions:
Subject to a variety of extreme weather conditions; susceptible to mechanical, electrical, and chemical hazards associated with equipment and maintenance duties; subject to constant and extreme noise, poor lighting, and fumes.
Other Requirements:
Must pass pre-employment drug testing and submit to periodic testing required by applicable laws. Must pass ten-year criminal history background check as required by the Transportation Security Administration. Must pass recurring SIDA with Escort; AFDQ; Fire Warden; Fire Safety; Active Shooter; Stormwater Training; Vehicle Search and ID Verification Training. Subject to work schedule with varying days off. Available for recall during non-duty hours for emergencies, snow removal or other related duties.
