Job Summary
The full-time ANR Extension Assistant position will perform multiple duties throughout the year.
June through October the Assistant will oversee all day-to-day operations of the Stinger Produce Market. Duties will include; managing produce supply, hauling produce, marketing, pricing and customer service. Mondays and Tuesdays will be spent allocating produce to sell each week. The market is open Wednesday thru Friday, excluding federally recognized holidays from 10:00 A.M. to 6:00 P.M. Regular hours of operation for WVSU Research and Development may be adjusted for days of operation during market season. The ANR Extension Assistant will oversee all day to day market operations which includes opening and closing procedures.
The months of November through May, the ANR Extension Assistant is responsible for aiding ANR educators with tasks involving program setup, delivery, research and service. The assistant will help with ANR projects both on and off campus. Duties may include mowing, equipment care, storage solutions, organization, maintenance, and driving vehicles and trailers containing supplies to program events. The successful candidate will be required to receive a CDL classified driving status within the first six months of employment. The ANR Extension Assistant is expected to perform other tasks that may be assigned by their supervisor and work cooperatively with all extension staff.
This position is employed by the West Virginia State University Research and Development Corporation. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, 8:30 AM to 5 PM. Summer Schedule is Monday through Friday 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM. The work week consists of 37.5 hours per week. However, due to the nature of work performed, flexible hours, including evenings, weekends and occasional overnights are required.
This is a full-time grant-funded position. Continued employment is dependent on the ongoing availability of grant funding.
Qualifications
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
The individual must be experienced in record keeping and customer relations. The assistant must be dependable and accomplish all responsibilities within the times assigned. The ANR Assistant will be able to work independently, often in the field, and with minimal supervision. The positon requires adherence to standards and guidelines set forth by WVSUES, WVSU R&D Corporation as well as federal guidelines pursuant to the various granting agencies. The individual must exhibit a willingness to work collaboratively and have capacity for flexibility. Must possess a valid driver’s license in good standing and receive CDL driving certification within the first six months of employment.

Required Education and Experience
A High School diploma or equivalent is required. The successful candidate will have strong written and oral communication skills and experience in working with diverse clientele and organizations.
Computer Skills
To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of database software, Internet software, and word processing software. Candidate must be willing to learn and operate software systems (e.g. Clover) with proper training. Candidate must learn and operate software systems for inventory and market reporting.
Travel
Travel state-wide but may also include various portions of the United States based on attendance requirements for training and/or reporting for grant purposes.
