The Trauma Program Director is a senior expert leader in the area optimal care for the injured patient. The Director is responsible for the coordination/integration of all services/systems to ensure an organized, multidisciplinary approach to the delivery of patient care of the injured patient. The Director will work in collaboration with the local trauma program personnel for day-to-day responsibilities for processes and performance improvement activities related to the care of this patient population. The Director will ensure that clinical care pathways are disseminated throughout the health system and utilized appropriately, making necessary revisions based upon evidenced based practice. The Director will also assume oversight and responsibility for all WVUM trauma registry data entry, integrity and reporting.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
EDUCATION, CERTIFICATION, AND/OR LICENSURE:

1. Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing.
2. Current license to practice Registered Professional Nursing in West Virginia, or applicable state where services will be performed.
EXPERIENCE:
1. Minimum of 5 years of as a trauma program manager.

1. Masters of the Science of Nursing

2. More than 5 years as a trauma program manager.
3. Extensive knowledge of trauma registries.

1. Effectively assesses trauma system issues that may be impending problem resolution and intervenes at an appropriate level.
3. In collaboration with the local trauma program manager and trauma medical director to develop, implement, and evaluate policies, procedures, protocols/practice, and management guidelines, monitoring the care of in-hospital patients.
4. Serves as a role model and resource in the provision of expert direct and/or indirect trauma care by developing a comprehensive plan of care and evaluating interventions and outcomes.
5. Initiates multidisciplinary patient care conferences in collaboration with other team members when indicated for complex patients across the health system.
6. Supervises collection, coding, scoring, and developing processes for validation of data across all WVUM trauma registries.
7. Serves as the liaison to the WV Committee on Trauma
8. Manages, as appropriate, the operational, personnel, and financial aspects of the Trauma Program, in collaboration with the trauma program manager.
9. Monitors federal and state trauma related legislative issues.
10. Represents the WVUM Trauma Program on various hospital and community committees to enhance and foster optional trauma care management.
11. Effectively monitors and maintain all trauma registry requirements, ongoing education, and quality, in collaboration with the local program manager.
12. Serves as the Administrator for specialized software and applications used for trauma care across the WVUM health system
13. Provides ongoing feedback to employees concerning job performance in a professional and constructive manner. Outlines goal development plans for direct reports. Counsels and disciplines employees when necessary.
14. Performs on-going written performance reviews and any necessary employee action plans according to hospital policy.
15. Initiates and maintains appropriate personnel records.

SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

1. Effective communication, conflict resolution and problem resolution skills.
2. A "systems thinking" approach with the ability to learn, adapt, and react to a changing organizational environment.
3. Excellent verbal and written communication skills, which are equally effective with large and small audiences.
4. Computer literate with working knowledge of Microsoft products and experience with project management software.
