About the Opportunity
The West Virginia Area Health Education Centers Program is housed in the West Virginia University Institute for Community & Rural Health which serves communities and students to cultivate the health and wellbeing of rural West Virginians. As part of ongoing efforts to support thriving communities through healthcare workforce development, the Institute is excited to launch recruitment for a new team member to support program activities across the state. This position is supported by the federal Health Resources & Services Administration - Area Health Education Centers cooperative agreement, titled West Virginia Area Health Education Centers.
The Program Coordinator supports overall Program success by assisting with development, implementation, evaluation, and dissemination of program activities, working closely with the Program Office and Center staff, local partners, students, and key interest holders to improve healthcare access and quality in rural and medically underserved regions of West Virginia.

What You'll Do
Assist with data collection and reporting for federal and state reports as assigned by Institute leadership.Conduct and support long-term follow-up data collection on program participants for program evaluation. Example programs that conduct long-term follow-ups on program completers include shadowing programs for high school students and the WV AHEC Rural Community Health Scholars Program for current health professions students.Support the development and submission of IRB applications.Collect qualitative and quantitative data by helping to develop and / or participate in conducting interviews / observations and administering surveys / assessments.Enter quantitative data into appropriate systems (such as REDCap and the Institute's Tracker data collection system) to ensure appropriate data structure and security. Example data entry includes but is not limited to information for continuing education events and WV AHEC Rural Community Health Scholars Program activity data.Participate in and / or conduct data quality improvement projects as identified by and under the supervision of Institute leadership to support program effectiveness and evaluation. Example projects include but are not limited to, supporting implementation of plan-do-study-act initiatives, and reviewing data entered by affiliates to assure accuracy and compliance with state and federal reporting requirements.Prepare data for analysis by cleaning, coding, and / or merging data.Support the development of deliverables, presentations, needs assessments, and manuscripts by participating in storyboarding sessions, conducting and documenting literature reviews, conducting basic data analyses, writing report sections, presenting deliverables and supporting manuscript development.Support creation and assure accuracy of materials and shared resources such as, but not limited to handbooks, templates, infographics, and materials to support program implementation and promotion using appropriate platforms such as OneDrive and Tracker needed to support the Program's infrastructure and success.Participate as part of teams, workgroups, and committees to support healthcare workforce development efforts in West Virginia.Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in public health, health planning, health administration, communications, psychology, social work or a related field.A minimum of one (1) year of experience in the following :supporting research and evaluation studies in an academic or applied setting.
Any equivalent combination of related education and / or experience will be considered.All qualifications must be met by the time of employmentKnowledge, Skills and Abilities
Proficient in basic data analysis techniques and interpretation including descriptive and inferential statistics.Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).Demonstrated writing skills (English fluency) for published content designed for a variety of audiences and mediums, proposal preparation, reporting and other assigned tasks.Demonstrated experience assisting with program planning, promotion, implementation, and / or evaluation.High level of attention to detail and ability to problem solve.Strong proofreading skills.Strong organizational skills.Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to work with a wide range of internal and external interest holders and communities.Takes initiative and self-directed as well as the ability to work effectively in a team.Ability and willingness to travel statewide, with occasional overnight or out-of-state travel.Preferred Qualifications
Master's degree in public health, health planning, health administration, communications, psychology, or social work.Proficient in quantitative and qualitative research methods and data analysis.Proficient in data collection and analysis tools such as REDCap, Qualtrics, NVivo, Excel, R,SAS or SPSS.Demonstrated ability to produce dissemination products such as reports, abstracts, infographics, presentations, and / or publications.Experience with supporting the creation of and / or creating program promotion materials using tools such as, but not limited to, Canva, Adobe Creative Suite, or Microsoft Publisher.General knowledge regarding federal Title VII programs.Requirements

The WVURC was created as a not-for-profit corporation in 1985 to support research (R1) at West Virginia University. We provide evaluation, development, patenting, management, and marketing services for inventions of the faculty, staff and students of the University.
The WVURC receives and administers funds awarded by external agencies for research and other activities and is responsible for helping protect intellectual property through patents, copyrights and licensing agreements for start-up companies based on University research.
