The West Virginia University Extension Service (WVUES) is seeking applications for a grant funded mentoring program assistant. This position is part time and benefits eligible assignment with 4-H Youth Development for a period of 30 months. The position will work as an assistant to the Lewis County 4-H Agent to include school day, afterschool, and summer learning 4-H programs for Lewis County.

- Youth engagement will include regular school day, afterschool, summer enrichment, and some summer and weekends that will require overnights during the summer camping season.
- Provide family education and support.
- Training and education delivery for mentoring for 4-H youth and life skills curriculum.
- Assist with summer engagement programs including Energy Express and 4-H camping.
- Provide monthly 4-H Club Meetings
- Bachelor’s degree
- A minimum of one (1) year of experience in the following:
- Volunteer or paid experience working with youth program delivery.
- Technology proficient for teaching, data collecting and reporting
- Any equivalent combination of related education and/or experience will be considered.
- All qualifications must be met by the time of employment.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate, interact, and collaborate with both colleagues, families and youth.
- Ability to pass WVUE Background and youth protection screening
- Ability to travel as needed for position which may include occasional overnights for conferences, professional development and summer 4-H camping.
- Willingness to work flexible hours including evenings and weekends
- Ability to lift and carry materials needed to conduct trainings and perform duties of the position.
- Ability to self-motivate and work independently of supervision
- Experience in curriculum delivery, facilitator skills and partnership development
- Valid driver's license
