The Department of Behavioral Medicine and Psychiatry at West Virginia University is currently accepting applications for a Part-time (Hybrid) Addiction Medicine Research Assistant.

About the Opportunity

The role of Addiction Medicine Research Assistant is to assist addiction psychiatry / medicine fellows and fellowship faculty in their addiction related research in both the administrative and the clinical setting.

This position will advance the research and development missions of West Virginia University by providing the necessary scientific and technical skills related to research projects that are essential to the research activities of the WVU Rockefeller Neuroscience Institute and the Department of Behavioral Medicine and Psychiatry as well as enhancing the quality of training received by HRSA sponsored Addiction Medicine fellows through their program by enabling them to engage in more and higher quality research than would otherwise be possible.

What You'll Do

  • Assist in the creation, formatting, testing, and refinement of a data repository for methamphetamine use disorder research.
  • Collaborate with addiction fellows to design research projects related to addiction medicine.
  • Support fellows in conducting research, including data collection, analysis, and interpretation.
  • Help fellows prepare research findings for presentation at conferences and other professional events.
  • Assist in drafting manuscripts, abstracts, and posters for publication in peer-reviewed journals.
  • Ensure data quality and integrity through regular review and maintenance of the data repository.
  • Perform administrative tasks as needed to support research activities, including scheduling meetings, coordinating with study partners, and organizing research materials.
  • Ensures ongoing formal and informal communication with the research team. This will include frequent communication and periodic in-person meetings with the principal investigator to discuss the research progress, data, and any relevant issues.
  • Provides general clinical research and information to research, clinical, and other organizational staff.
  • Remains fully compliant with all privacy regulations and protocols, and all institutional policies.
  • Participates in educational opportunities to increase knowledge about clinical trials, regulations and guidance, and the role of the clinical trials nurse.
  • Stay up-to-date with relevant research methods, data analysis techniques, and addiction medicine literature.
  • Pay Grade : 15

    Work Hours : 30 Hours Per Week

    Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (e.g., psychology, public health, biology, or related)
  • A minimum of 0-6 months of experience involving :
  • Working in a clinical setting and / or experience working in clinical research

  • Any equivalent combination of related education and / or experience will be considered
  • All qualifications must be met by the time of employment.
  • Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Experience in research methods, data collection, and statistical analysis.
  • Proficiency with data management software (e.g., REDCap, SPSS, or similar).
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team.
