This position proceeds on own initiative while complying with policies, practices and procedures described by the Assistant Treasurer of Communications. This position seldom refers matters to supervisor except for clarification of policy. This position is required to travel with the State Treasurer for press events/other appearances, as necessary.Job Duties: Assists the Assistant Treasurer of Communications in managing and executing both internal and external communications emanating from the STO. Writes and edits brochures, newsletters, departmental publications, consumer, and other informational materials; prepares graphics compositions and layout. Researches or collects information from a variety of sources and writes news releases covering regular and periodic activities of the STO for daily and/or weekly newspapers and for non-print news releases. Assists with producing presentations, speeches, press releases, op-ed pieces, and articles to advance public awareness of the STO programs and services.Responsible for managing STO intranet content. Provides support for press conferences and office events. Assists with photography for internal/external communications. Assists Assistant Treasurer as needed. Produces monthly STO employee newsletter. Establishes and maintains contacts with the news media, including newspapers, radio, and television. Establishes and maintains a media outreach plan, including coordination with key constituents and Regional Treasury Representatives, along with the preparation of advisories/releases and scheduling media interviews, to maximize coverage and public awareness of STO and Treasurer-related public events across WV. Responsible for creating, managing, and posting content on all STO social media sites. Advises department administrators on public relations methods and established procedures.
