- Handle a caseload in the area of child support enforcement.
- Become familiar with agency policy and state and federal law.
- Locate parents, assets, and sources of income.
- Calculate the child support formula.
- Attend hearings to gain experience, assist legal staff, or give testimony regarding specific cases.
- Complete application for services, explains policy as it relates to cases.
- Research legal sources such as statutes, court opinions, rules and regulations.
- Draft complaints and other legal documents for use by the agency attorney.
- Compile case information by reviewing public documents, interviewing customers, or gathering information from other agencies.
- Prepare and maintain case files for agency attorney.
- Prepare summaries and reports as needed.
- Evaluate cases to determine appropriate legal and administrative actions, under guidance of the agency attorney, in compliance with state and federal laws.
- Perform beginning level work in responding to customer service inquiries to include resolution of less complex case issues.
- Compose routine correspondence.
- Acquire interviewing techniques and skills.
- Maintain confidentiality of information.
- Analyze caretaker and obligor cases to determine the accuracy of the financial and payment histories.
- Perform audits to ensure balances are correct utilizing several different databases to compile all pertinent data needed to complete an audit.
- Verify data in the case file and the automated database affecting allocation and distribution of support payments by reviewing data for accuracy and completeness.
- Obtain case financial histories obtained by child support agencies in other states, if necessary.
- Review all manual adjustments in the automated system and all financial narratives to ensure all support due has been distributed properly.

- Ability to learn the procedures of the court system, legal proceedings and principles pertaining to child support enforcement.
- Ability to record pertinent facts, perform moderately complex mathematical calculations, and maintain records.

- Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
- Ability to effectively interview clients to gather information.
- Ability to use data entry.

Substitution: Successful completion of a paralegal or legal secretarial training program may substitute for two (2) years of the required training
OR full-time or equivalent part-time paid experience in a legal setting which required performing legal research, reading and interpreting laws, preparing legal documents and assisting in the preparation and assessment of case files under the supervision of an attorney
OR in debt collections, credit investigations, criminal investigations, law enforcement, accounting, or auditing.
OR as an Economic Service Worker or Family Support Specialist
OR any combination thereof may substitute for the college training at a rate of one (1) year of experience for every thirty (30) semester hours of training.
Special Requirement: May be required to have a valid driver's license and availability of a vehicle for continuous use.
Salary : $34,247 - $58,936
