What are the responsibilities and job description for the Correctional Counselor 1 - DHS - DCR - Mason County Youth Reporting Center - Mason Co. position at West Virginia?
Under general supervision, the Correctional Counselor 1 will function as a member of a team providing services to an assigned caseload of juvenile residents living in a unit in a West Virginia Juvenile Correctional or Detention Center. The work of the Correctional Counselor 1 will consist of providing a variety of services to the juvenile residents of the center. Duties may vary as to job function or area of specialization based on the needs of the unit or center. Areas of responsibilities include assisting the unit Correctional Officer with security duties, providing vocational education, substance abuse education, assisting with recreational services, providing vocational education, substance abuse education, assisting with recreational services, providing crisis intervention on the unit, guidance of juvenile residents, assistance with need and/or risk assessments, classification, and diagnostic evaluations, and acting as a role model for the juvenile residents. Will perform other duties as assigned.

Training: A Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with a major in criminal justice, corrections, psychology, sociology, counseling, counseling and guidance, criminology, social work, education, therapeutic recreation or closely related field.
Salary : $32,862 - $56,373
