Under general supervision from a higher-level health professional or higher-level Epidemiologist, performs advanced-level professional work and functions as a skilled, technical expert in the field of epidemiology. Directs the collection and analysis of data on disease trends and written recommendations for control and prevention of opioid use disorder (OUP) and stimulant use disorder. Work includes the direction and participation in data collection from the State Opioid Response (SOR) partners and surveys that have national, statewide, or local impact. The person will take a significant role in the Statewide Epidemiological Workgroup (SEOW) and ensure significant partnerships with all pertinent parties are developed and utilized to positively address/impact substance use disorder (SUD) in WV. This position has significant administrative responsibilities and visibility at all state and national levels and will likely be consulted by citizens, health care, and public health professionals throughout the state. This position is a requirement of the Federal Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) SOR grant and will serve as the SOR Epidemiologist.
