What are the responsibilities and job description for the Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) - Mid Ohio Valley Health Department - Wood Co. position at West Virginia?
Under general supervision, performs professional work as an entry level nurse providing direct patient care to individuals in a public health clinic. Works in multiple programs as a Public Health Nurse. Interviews patients and/or their families to complete a medical history and to make a physical assessment. Takes vitals, blood draws, and provides education to the client on prevention of disease and promotion of health. Carries out the prescribed care according to established nursing practices. Refers patients to alternative public or private agencies for continuing care. Meets with family, significant others, and members of the nursing team to establish and evaluate short and long-range treatment goals. Provides direction to other licensed and unlicensed workers such as Licensed Practical Nurses and Health and Human Service Aides, as needed. Provides direct patient care in multiple clinical programs, such as Women's Health, Family Planning, Tuberculosis, Sexually Transmitted Diseases, Breast and Cervical Screenings, Vaccination and Immunization Clinics, and Children's Health. Occasional travel may be required. Performs related work as required.
