As a growing practice we are seeking a Patient Care Coordinator to coordinate all pre-service components for in-house diagnostic procedures (i.e., MRI, CT, Nuclear Medicine, etc...) as well as processing referral for specialist or other patient care appointments.
Responsibilities:
- Receive orders from physicians to schedule in-house procedures for diagnostic imaging and process referrals for specialist or other patient care appointments
- Verify the procedure being ordered corresponds with the diagnosis; confirms that any appropriate prior testing has been completed prior to pre-certification
- Verify insurance coverage and obtains appropriate information for pre-certification
- Speak with the patient or patient representative via phone to schedule the procedure
- Explain the procedure and the preparation for the procedure to the patient or patient representative and answer questions, provide directions regarding location and time
- Maintain confidentiality
- Contribute to a healthy team environment
- Additional duties as assigned
Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Previous experience in a clinic setting
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with patients, staff, and others involved with patient care
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills
- Ability to prioritize tasks and manage time effectively
Preferred Skills:
- Knowledge of insurance process and medical terminology preferred
- Familiarity with electronic medical records (EMR) systems
- Identifying problems and recommending solutions
- Completion of a certified nursing assistant (CNA), medical assistant (MA), RN or LPN program or equivalent training/experience
The schedule for this position is Monday through Friday, from 8 am to 5 pm. We offer a generous paid time off plan, in addition to a suite of employee benefits.
