Pharmacy Technician

Responsibilities:
- Medication Dispensing: Accurately fill prescriptions under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist, ensuring the correct medication, dosage, and instructions are provided.
- Patient Interaction: Assist patients with medication-related inquiries, providing clear and compassionate communication about their prescriptions, dosages, and side effects.
- Inventory Management: Manage and monitor inventory, ensuring the pharmacy is fully stocked with necessary medications, supplies, and equipment. Assist with ordering and restocking as needed.
- Prescription Processing: Review medication orders for accuracy, resolve discrepancies, and communicate with physicians or patients as necessary.
- Compounding: Prepare medications according to prescriptions that may require compounding.
- Regulatory Compliance: Adhere to state and federal regulations, including controlled substances handling, pharmacy safety standards, and patient confidentiality (HIPAA).
- Recordkeeping: Maintain accurate patient and medication records, including immunization records, and ensure proper documentation of all interactions.
- Team Collaboration: Work closely with pharmacists, other healthcare professionals, and the support staff to ensure optimal patient care and the smooth functioning of the pharmacy.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- Certification: Valid Pharmacy Technician Certification (CPhT) required.
- Experience: Minimum of 1-2 years of experience as a Pharmacy Technician in a retail or clinical setting.
- Attention to Detail: Strong attention to detail and accuracy in medication dispensing and documentation.
- Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to effectively interact with patients and healthcare providers.
- Problem Solving: Ability to handle complex situations with professionalism and calmness, resolving issues efficiently.
- Technology Proficiency: Familiarity with pharmacy management software, and ability to learn and use new technologies.
- Team-Oriented: Ability to work effectively as part of a team in a busy and dynamic environment.
- Customer Service: A compassionate and patient-centered approach to healthcare, with an emphasis on positive patient interactions.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bilingual: Ability to communicate in more than one language is a plus.
This is a part-time position with the majority of the work hours occurring Monday - Friday, 1 pm - 6 pm. This position will qualify to earn paid time off but will not be benefits eligible.
