JOB SUMMARY: Under general supervision: Provides underwriting and credit approval service for consumers for direct consumer lending products.
Weekly Working Hours: 40
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Fundamental Duties
- Handles loan application from consumers over the phone, by fax, or external or inter-office mail; reviews information; analyzes financial documents, credit reports, and other relevant information to determine credit worthiness of applicants. Communicates credit decision to applicants.
- For approved loan applications, coordinates loan closing with applicants and branch staff. Orders loan documents.
- For declined loan applications, prepares adverse action letters and mails to applicants.
- Performs second review functions of applicants handled by other consumer loan underwriters.
- Explains, as necessary, direct consumer loan products, required paperwork, and changes in consumer lending to branch staff.

MINIMUM KNOWLEDGE, PRIOR WORK EXPERIENCE, AND SKILLS NEEDED TO PERFORM JOB FUNCTIONS:
Previous work experience of at least one year in a consumer lending function where incumbent has gained satisfactory knowledge of consumer loan
products, services, regulations, income tax return analysis, underwriting, loan documentation, and consumer compliance laws and regulations.
Incumbent must be PC literate and possess analytical, interpersonal and communication skills.
