Job Overview:

The Psychologist will provide a range of psychological services, including neuropsychological assessments primarily to adults. This role involves conducting diagnostic assessments, administering and interpreting neuropsychological tests, developing treatment plans, and delivering individual, family, and group therapy. The psychologist will work as part of a multidisciplinary team to ensure that comprehensive, evidence-based care is provided.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Assessment and Diagnosis:
    • Conduct comprehensive psychological evaluations, including clinical interviews, diagnostic assessments, and behavioral observations.
    • Administer and interpret neuropsychological tests to evaluate cognitive functioning, memory, attention, executive functioning, learning disabilities, and neurodevelopmental disorders (e.g., ADHD, Autism Spectrum Disorders).
    • Utilize age-appropriate, evidence based, standardized assessment tools to diagnose emotional, behavioral, and mental health conditions such as anxiety, depression, dementia and trauma-related disorders.
  • Neuropsychological Testing:
    • Design and administer psychological batteries tailored to the specific needs of the individual, using tools such as the WISC, WAIS, MMPI-3, Millon, and CAARS.
    • Analyze test results to assess cognitive strengths and weaknesses, identifying issues related to brain function and behavior.
    • Provide detailed psychological evaluation reports, summarizing findings and offering recommendations for treatment and academic/occupational accommodations.
    • Present the findings of psychological testing to clients, families, and other professionals in a clear and understandable manner.
  • Treatment Planning and Intervention:
    • Develop individualized treatment plans based on psychological and neuropsychological assessments and coordinate appropriate interventions.
    • Provide evidence-based therapy (e.g., Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Trauma-Focused CBT) to individuals, families, and groups.
    • Regularly participate in treatment team meetings, monitor progress, adjust treatment plans, and communicate findings and recommendations with other healthcare providers as needed.
  • Collaboration and Consultation:
    • Work closely with a multidisciplinary team, including psychiatrists, therapists, speech therapists, and educators, to ensure a coordinated approach to care.
    • Consult with schools, medical professionals, courts and other agencies to apply neuropsychological findings in educational or occupational settings and support the individual’s broader functioning.
    • Provide guidance to families and caregivers on how to support the individual’s cognitive, emotional, and behavioral development.
  • Crisis Intervention and Risk Management:
    • Conduct risk assessments for individuals presenting with self-harm, suicidal ideation, or behavioral crises.
    • Provide crisis assessment and certification services as needed, ensuring safety and appropriate referrals to higher levels of care if required.
  • Documentation and Compliance:
    • Maintain accurate, timely, and confidential client records, including neuropsychological evaluation reports, progress notes, and treatment plans.
    • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and agency regulations, including those related to HIPAA and ethical standards with regard to psychological testing.
  • Professional Development:
    • Stay current with advancements in psychological testing and therapeutic interventions through continuing education and training.
    • Participate in clinical supervision and staff development activities to enhance professional growth.
