POSITION SUMMARY:
Behavioral Health Technician operates as a backup to the Licensed Mental Health Clinician that goes out to an in-person MRT crisis call. Job Functions include those listed below.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Works with individuals, families, and groups to provide outreach, and emotional support.
- Transport and clinicians responding to crisis calls in the community within the 60-minute required timeframe.
- Provide input in clinical team meetings.
- Provide follow up to individuals in the community as identified
- Engage individuals and families in the community to assist in de-escalating crisis.
- Assist therapists with consumer interventions and redirect consumers when behavior is inappropriate.
- Provides warm hand off to community resources, services, and supports.
- Assist dispatcher in triage of phone calls and provides community resource information as needed.
- Engages individuals and families in the crisis planning process using evidenced based practices including Motivational Interviewing and Mental Health First Aid.
- Assist the clinician in the development of safety or crisis care plan.
- Coordinates psychiatric face-to-face or telehealth appointments with psychiatrist within 48 hours of intervention.
- Provides after hours crisis services on a rotation schedule.
- Transports individuals to designated receiving facilities under a voluntary or involuntary status, if deemed safe to transport, if the individual does not have other transportation options available and agrees to be transported by the MRT.
- Interacts with management to gather and provide information.
- Completes all orientation and mandated training activities, including E-Learning Courses, within required timeframes, and in accordance with the criteria established for this position.

- Perform all other duties as assigned.

- Valid driver’s license and ability to obtain and maintain WestCare’s vehicle insurance is required.
- During your tenure with WestCare there may be new requirements, including, but not limited to vaccinations that are issued by local, State, Federal, and/or Funders that WestCare may have to comply with. Should this occur Human Resources or appropriate personnel will inform you.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
- One (1) to three (3) years of experience in behavioral health crisis services.
- Familiarity with Monroe County.
- Bachelor’s Degree in human services or related field is preferred.
- High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION:
- Registered Behavioral Technician Certification is strongly preferred.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
- Work is primarily performed in a professional office/residential setting.
- Some outdoor activities may be required.
- Some travel is required.
