The Westchester County Attorney’s Office is searching for Assistant County Attorneys to join its Family Court Bureau.

This attorney is responsible in handling juvenile delinquency matters involving youth under 18 who have been arrested for conduct that would constitute a crime if they were adults.

Responsibilities Include but Not Limited to:

Drafting legal documents, including pleadings, motions, and memoranda of law,

meeting with law enforcement and witnesses to identify and analyze legal issues;

handling a full caseload; case investigations, motion practice, discovery; courtroom advocacy including pre-trial hearings, trials and dispositional hearings. As part of the Raise the Age initiative, handle cases transferred from the Youth Part of the Superior Court for both juvenile and adolescent offenders, as well as designated felonies and misdemeanors that originate in Family Court. Participate in an on-call notification program and conduct field work including visits to police stations, crime scenes and hospitals as needed. Participate in community events including school, law enforcement and community outreach events to prevent and reduce youth crime and improve public safety. May be required to attend various inter-agency and county meetings and to prepare and present trainings both within the Family Court Bureau and to other agencies and stakeholders.

Required Qualifications:

The successful candidates must have graduated from a school of law with an LLB or JD degree and be admitted to the New York State Bar.

Experience in the Family Court is highly preferred.

Must be able to work collaboratively with County Attorney staff, other attorneys, Court staff and other County agencies in a fast paced and demanding environment. Ability to multi-task is highly preferred.

Pay: $102,525.00 - $125,145.00 per year
